Who Needs a Tough Father?
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 07-15-2016
It's a tough time to be a father right now. Taking your child to the zoo or for a walk in the woods could land you on the front page of the newspaper. Whether you are a single dad, a step dad or just a standard dad, fathers everywhere are damned if they do and damned if they don't. And even if you can ignore the media, the headlines and the plethora of self-appointed experts, you can hardly ignore that other know-it-all voice of criticism - the expert in fathering…

When I arrived at his house I had to double check the address. This was a very rough part of town and I was going to meet a High Court Judge. But Sir Mark Hedley is no ordinary judge.  He has lived in a poor part of Liverpool for over 45 years having arrived  in the city i to study law. at Liverpool University.  Mark  became a Barrister in 1969 and right from the start developed a passion to help people who find it difficult to get access to justice.   So I might be missing something here, so let me know if I am. I have been trying to invite Childrens and family ministers Ed Timpson to engage directly with the Home for Good campaign for a while. Sadly he was too busy to come to any of the meetings (including the launch) and too busy to speak to us directly. But today he was speaking at a conference for the National Fostering Association. Here's a bit of background on them: One of Britain’s biggest independent fostering providers, the…

The very kind people at Saddleback church let me use pastor Rick Warren's private studio to make a quick video to spread the word about the national consultation on fostering and adoption. (special thanks to Justin Heglund for giving his time and talent for free to do this). We are having 6 consultation events around the country to talk with current foster and adoptive carers, Christian social workers and Church leaders. If you are interested check out the dates below and then click here to register. Tuesday, 19 June –…

22 minutes
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 05-10-2012
Every 22 minutes a child in the UK enters the care system, most of them need a foster home. On any one day 59 000 children are in foster homes. There’s a continual need for more foster carers as more children are in the care system than ever before and 14% of foster carers retire or give up fostering each year. Fostering is one of the hardest but most rewarding things you can do. It isn’t for everyone – the children that come into foster care have often come…

National consultation on Fostering, Adoption & the Church
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 03-30-2012
I am delighted to tell you about a nationwide initiative that I am working on with Care for the Family and Evangelical Alliance. There is a pressing need in the UK for more foster and adoptive parents. There is a crisis in recruitment and retainment of foster and adoptive placements. The church is uniquely placed to offer its help to meet both of these needs. As a large social network with involvement with large numbers of families the church is fertile soil for recruitment. Once carers have been through the…
