Digital Evangelism
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 12-12-2011
Spent a lively afternoon with some Christian digital influencers from across the theological spectrum. I was asked to kick off the discussion and used my reflections on James Smith's transformation triangle to explore evangelism in three dimensions. 1. Explaining the Narrative - changed thinking 2. Modelling Practice - changed behaviour 3. Inviting into the community - changed relationship I was encouraging the group to think about the three aspects as ways into the gospel. Some traditions only address the mind in evangelism, others only the practice others the community. My…

Twitter, Klout, Angry Birds – #spirituality blog 2
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-04-2011
There are now a plethora of services offering to analyse or visually represent your twitter stream. This new one is particularly cute because it integrates a little bit of the Angry Birds universe into its info graphics. I have been wrestling a bit with these online tools this week after a friend of mine tweeted : [blackbirdpie id="132022413956362240"] She is right of course. Ego, insecurity and pride are all great motivators to be constantly concerned about influence and power and when that is coupled by instant digital metrics like…

the history of the iphone
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 10-21-2011
Love this video in memory of Steve Jobs. Highlights include the fact that the most influential designer in the world went to Newcastle Poly. The exponential increase in transistors on a microprocessor chip. The huge decrease in price for a mobile phone. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. CNET UK Presents: History of the iPhone, dedicated to the memory of Steve Jobs from Drew Stearne on Vimeo.

Vancouver is a romantic city and I try to spend as much time there as I can afford. I was recently a visiting faculty member at Regent College and became an adopted Canucks fan for the Stanley Cup. The world's attention has settled on this magnificent city with its rolling mountains, lush forests, imposing sky scrapers and sandy beaches. The reaction to the final game of the NHL hockey tournament; the much coveted Stanley Cup, which has never been won by the Canucks was unprecedented. With a full scale riot…

I wonder what Malcolm Gladwell is thinking tonight. Watching the crowds and the fireworks in Cairo celebrating the end of President Hosni Mubarak's 30 year dictatorship, is he regretting being so adamant about the ineffectiveness of social media for bringing social change. In his now famous article : "Small Change: Why the revolution will not be tweeted." Gladwell argues that social media is a weak tie network and so incapable of bringing genuine social change. He compares the kind of relationships needed to hold together the Civil rights movement in…

Should I get a Kindle?
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 01-03-2011
My wife bought me a surprise birthday present of an Amazon Kindle. When it was wrapped up I thought she had bought me a bar of chocolate as the kindle is unbelievable sleek, small and svelte. On unwrapping the present I tried not to look disappointed as I have an Apple Ipad and had the kindle book application installed in it already, so while looking happy on the outside, inside I was worried this could be a redundant piece of tech. But a few days on and I am hooked.…

Facebook mapped

Interesting visualisation from visualizing friendships. The interesting question is who is left out? Predictably Africa and South America look pretty dark on this map. The digital haves and have nots seem to mirror every other kind of failure at redistrubution of wealth.

Accordance or Logos? Bible Software review
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 12-14-2010
Bible Software Review With far more books than shelf space in my house, the idea that I could reclaim several inches of prime shelving by storing key Bible research tools on my computer is hugely attractive. Plus there is the added bonus benefit of being able to instantly search a huge number of resources from my laptop even when I am on a train or a plane. Bible software opens up a world of possibilities especially for non-Greek/Hebrew literate Bible teachers such as myself. This review will focus on the…

Finally a Blackberry Iphone Killer?
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 12-05-2010
Blackberry or Iphone? for many people the question is a stupid one - a bit like PC or Mac. Some argue if you could afford one who wouldn't want a Mac? Others would argue why spend double the amount on a computer that just comes with nicer software but doesn't work with the corporate system? Blackberry's are the PC's of the phone world. They work seamlessly with the office based servers, they are cheaper, they have a useful sized keyboard and they generally just work (ok that last one might…
