Lend me your ears

Georgia is one of the favourite places I have visited in the world. When I went there I didn't get a chance to meet this guy. But he has an impressive ability. I challenge you to watch this video and not feel in pain... You have got to ask how he knew his ears could handle this? I wonder what this says about us as the human race - is it an expression of human creativity, resilience and fun. Or is it an incredible waste of time?

A relevant gospel
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-30-2012
We had an excellent time at the first "Confidence in the Gospel" National Consultation. We looked at the issues around "A faithful gospel" and talking about how we make sure that the gospel we proclaim sticks closely to the Apostolic gospel. Watch this space for some excellent videos that were made on the day. But we are already pulling together the details for the next event which will look at the issue of "Contextualisation." How can we make sure the never changing gospel is communicated in our ever changing…

Grace, Truth and Synod
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-23-2012
The following blog post is not an official statement for the organisation I work for. It is offered as a reflection from a non-Anglican, but a friend of the Anglican church. I offer no expertise on the internal intricacies of the #synod system. I am a man and so have never suffered because of my gender. I write as an Asian so I know a little of what it means to be treated differently because of my genetics. I am very open to receive correction and critique.   It's been…

Finding God
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-16-2012
This week at our church we continue the theme of equipping the congregation for whole life discipleship. There are quite a few medics in our church : Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Doctors etc and so helping our church understand what they do and how we can support and encourage them in their service for God is an important aspect of this week's service. But all of us engage with healthcare at some level and it is often a very fragile time for us when we do - how can we keep…

Theology of Mission
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-12-2012
I was honoured to spend time with the St Miletus students today as they have their first day of lectures at their brand new St Jude's site. I was lecturing on an "An Introduction to a Theology of Mission." I have uploaded my slides for the students: (they might not make a lot of sense if you weren't there as I am firm believer in the interactive teaching method.) If you want to find out more about the gospel I was talking about see here. St melitus from Krish Kandiah…

John Lewis, Snowmen and how to have your viral cake and eat it
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-12-2012
The Christmas TV Ads are here with a vengeance. It seems everyone decided to launch their Christmas television promotionals this weekend. Whether it was “Holidays are coming” the recycled Coke spot – which is now such a Christmas schedule classic that they are happy to put a non widescreen ad up for nostalgia’s sake rather than update it. The big talking point for the last couple of years has been John Lewis’ ads which have featured some evocative music and virally watched narrative video clips. Ellie Goulding’s 2010 spine tingling…

SECRET CXXXCH
Posted By :Date :Krish Kandiah | 11-11-2012
Today we had a shorter service at our local church in order to connect in with the townwide act of remembrance. We took the opportunity to do things differently and connect with the global persecuted church. The idea was to use a whole church all age event to help our church experience the essence of church and a deeper connection with the persecuted church. Church unplugged We meet in a school and so decided to do a "church unplugged" event which meant no set up. no projector no sound system…

Things to love [Becareful there are a few mild spoilers in this post] . There was lots to enjoy in this year’s Bond offering, Sky Fall... 1. Cinematography This is the best looking Bond film bar none - I loved the lighting of the scene as Bond visited Macau looked amazing in the 4K cinema that I saw it in. - Similarly the Scottish countryside (lit by fire) was pretty impressive too 2. Daniel Craig I liked a bit more of the emotional engagement from Daniel Craig, I still think…

Read all about it

Trying a different tack with my youth group. In a bid to do both evangelism and disciplemaking in 11-14 year old group I run after school, I thought I would produce a little quiz and use each picture as a launch pad for discussion. As a result of this week's quiz we had a great conversation about: 1. Politics - who are MPs responsible to 2. Adoption 3. Science 4. Time 5. Mortality 6. Relationships 7. Anglican church hierachy 8. Cycle safety 9. Abortion 10. Homophobia Its' a way to…
