I try to read at least one book on preaching a year. I want to continue learning how to stay faithful to the text and continually rethink how best to stay connected to the culture. Here are some of the best books I have read over the years. 1. A review by Joel Kandiah (aged 9) and Krish kandiah (aged 36). This is fictional story based on the best selling children’s book by the irish Writer John Boyne. It tells the story of a friendship developing between Bruno the 8 year old (he’s 9 in the book) son of Nazi Concentration Camp commander and Shmuel an 8 year old boy imprisoned in a concentration camp. The movie’s poster paints the dynamic of the story perfectly and acts as a kind of parable of the movie’s key theme. The film…

There's no stopping the new sprint force from Jamaica (apart from one slip up in the womens 4 by 100m relay final). Usain Bolt is the poster boy for global athletics with his effortless 100 meter final run which had him slowing down with 10 meters to go and still break the world record. Visiting churches on holiday during the summer season can mean that you get exposed to more all age services than you might have bargained for. That was my experience this summer. The problem with all age services is often everyone hates them. The young people hate them because they don't get to go out to their groups and the adults hate them because they feel they are not getting a proper service (normally meaning a lack of a deep sermon.)
